Rustic Christmas Duo

This week I was looking over some of my older work, and saw that several years ago, I was doing more rustic style cards. I wanted to do another box project using the Stampin'Up! Gift Box Punch Board, so I pulled out the new Kraft Cardstock, Under the Tree DSP, Festival of Trees with coordinating punch , and my project was born.

 

I used the Kraft Cardstock not only for the box, but for the coordinating card and tags. The tags were distressed with Crumb Cake ink , except the one on the card. I already had that attached before my last minute decision {smile} that it would add more depth. As they say, the best laid plans of mice and men... or in this case, card maker!

The sides of the box are fairly plain. I used more Kraft paper that I embossed (retired EF) and a tree punched out of the Cherry Cobbler. I was originally going to use the olive twine on the card face, but I felt it was to bulky.

I will be posting this card and box over on Merry Monday #126 this week which I have not posted on before. Hopefully, it will fit the challenge of  the week making the sentiment the main focus.

One Little Box, Two SU Tools and Two Stamp Sets

This is a fairly quick little project I created on Friday using the Gift Box Punch Board and the Envelope Punch Board, plus two new Holiday stamp sets.

8x8 sheet of Crumb Cake/1.75 x 1.75 x 3.25

The box went together very quickly and so did the tag. The bow was made using one strip of card stock, 1"x 10" and the Envelope Punch Board. I had gotten the instructions from  Bona over on LiveLoveScrap . I thought it was ingenious.

Here are some pictoral instructions:

TIP: If you don't like your box being bulky inside, just cut one corner  out of each section. Also, be careful when you put the notches together to close the box. They tend to  be a little delicate. I'm speaking from experience here. (smile)

Cut a piece of paper of your choice, 1" x 10".

Place the strip on your Envelope Punch Board  and punch one end at 2" and move it to 5" and punch, flip it over and do the same on the opposite side. On the remaining side just punch at the 2" mark.

Put the ends into the channel, making sure to center it.

 Lightly curl the paper to form a soft "bow". Be careful not to crease it.

Crease the tails towards the front and put a glue dot were the body of t he bow and tail intersect.

Put the bow together making sure the curves match up.

This is the finished bow. As you can see, it's just a little under4" long. I also put a glue dot under the curve to attach the tail. You can use a thin strip around the middle, button or flower to finish it off.

Good Morning Blog friends! I hope your weekend was filled with all good things and a time to be CRAFTY.

I didn't do any crafting on Saturday and only a little on Sunday. We attended the Greg Laurie, S Cal Harvest event on Friday evening in Anaheim,CA. What a blessing, not only the crowd, the music, but the message. This was their 25th. year holding this event. Amazing...
Okay, enough of the chit chat and on with the sneak peak.

The Gift Box Punch Board. 
Anyone who knows me, will tell you, I love gadgets and tools, and I'm loving this one.

On the RIGHT is an extension arm for larger projects and on the LEFT, is the built in SCORING TOOL. All the box sizes with scoring is on the board just like the Envelope Punch board. 

You are able to make 15 different size boxes, quickly and easily. My favorite feature: you can make 6 boxes using a 8 1/2"x 11"piece of card stock cut at 6x6, 7x7, 8x8 for various sizes.  

The "bubble" at the top puts slits in your box to hold it together, which is a handy addition if you don't want to use a ribbon or glue dots to secure it closed.

I found that I preferred gluing the inside flaps. It not only made more  room inside the box, but I felt it was sturdier.

The photo above is one of the largest box and smallest.
They were made using the 12x12 Kraft Paper CS(#133674)
