Happy Big Day

Today's card is  one I created for the MOJO Monday 297 blog challenge.

My selection of paper and stamps were so easy for this card. I knew I needed an extra birthday card in my stash and the  Birthday Basics DSP and the
Chalk Talk  stamps and framelits were perfect for the task at hand.

Combining them both just made this  card so easy.

TNT Thursday

I thought for today's tutorial we would put together a little gift box.

This particular one is based on a "pizza" box. The lid fits over the bottom section of the box, but is still part of the main box.

Let's get started

You will need to cut your paper for the box at 5 1/2" x 8".
I used solid SU Card Stock because it is sturdier.

The CS is scored at landscape position at
1", 3 1/2", 4 1/2", 7"

Horizontal position at
1", 4 1/2"

After you have scored  the CS, clip the tabs as shown in the picture below. The left hand side is the box and the right side is the lid.

Fold all sections on their scored lines using your bone folder.

At the the corners of the tabs, I found that taking a small triangle piece from each corner helps the box corners fit tight.

Next put some type of sticky tape or liquid glue on
 the inside connecting pieces.

The completed box

Cut 2 pieces of CS at 2 3/4" x 4"
2 pieces of DSP 2 1/2" X 4"

Take the CS and using the edgelit and the Big Shot, cut close to
the edge as the below picture shows.

Layer the remaining pieces to the CS and round the
corners with a corner rounder.

These pieces are then adhered to the top and bottom of the completed box lining up the straight edge to the back of the box top and bottom.

I stamped and cut the image with the new Chalk Talk stamp and edgelits.

Cut a 18"-20" piece of ribbon and wrap around the box and tie in a bow. Cut the ends.
To add a little more fluff to the bow, I put a small piece of ribbon through the hole
of the tag and tied it a simple bow, then tied it around the knot of the first.

Tool Talk

Better then sliced bread? I sure do think so.

Stampin' Up's! new Magnetic Platform 130658 is a must have in your crafting arsenal if you LOVE using Framelits and Edgelits and don't want to mess with sticky notes to hold things down.

I tested it over the  weekend and I'm impressed. Although they suggest using flat Standard Cutting Pads, I didn't have any newer pads and it worked fine.

I run mine through the Big Shot flipping them over every other time, which does prevent them for getting to warped. I think you can tell by the pictures that they are also fairly etched and that didn't seem to affect the framelits or edgelits staying in place either.

For my test I used the new Chalk Talk Framelits (129983) that I just received.

I ran it through and everything stayed in place nicely.

To further test the strength of the magnets,
I set the platform up on its edge against the Big Shot and the framelits didn't move.
IMPRESSIVE

I then used the tiny insert to make a tag. No problem there either. I was able to line it up and it stayed just were I put it.

Here they are all cut and removed from the framelits.

There is a warning on the side of the platform for people who have pacemakers. So be mindful of that if you are either selling this, have people using it or using it yourself.

I really think this is a winner for all of use that love our Big Shot (113439) and love using the framelits and edgelits. It truly makes cutting them hassle free.
