Masculine Birthday Card

I don't know about you, but I always seem to have a need for masculine cards. Perhaps it's because I have 3 sons, 3 SIL's and a hubby to make them for!

Today's card was CASED from a card that I saw by Heather Nichols. I loved the layout and although Heather had used stamps, I knew I had Stampin' Up! papers that would work.

Praying for You

Today I am posting a card that I will link up to MOJO Monday (287) and Word Art Wednesday.

We recently had a BIL lose his Mom and I needed to make a sympathy card. I just love the combination of colors in the Sycamore Street DSP (a SAB free item),

T.N.T. Thursday

 Happy Anniversary

My tutorial for this week and perhaps the following several weeks, will be on GATE FOLD cards. Now this is not a "new" idea in the card making world, but they are so much fun and
really make an ordinary 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" or larger card special.

My card today is an example of  a  basic GATE FOLD. A good place to start for those who haven't tried them and perhaps give those who have a little refresher course.

1. Cut a piece of solid CS 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". Laying it in landscape
 position, score at 2 1/8" x 6 3/8".

2. Cut 2 pieces of solid CS, I used Very Vanilla, at 1 3/4" x 5 1/4".
And 2 pieces of patterned CS 1 1/2" x 5".

 3. Layer the pieces and adhere them to the gate fold front.

4.  Cut one 2 1/2" circle from a coordinating color. To add interest, paper pierce the circle.

5. Stamp  and cut one large lace heart and small heart from the Hearts a Flutter bundle.
I stamped these using VersaMark and sprinkled them with Pool Party embossing powder
and heat set them with the SU Heat Tool.

6. Cut the Happy Anniversary from the Teeny Tiny Wishes on Whisper White
and using the Big Shoot, cut the sentiment with the Bitty Banners Framelelit.

7. Now you are ready to assemble the card.
Adhere the larger heart using SNAIL Adhesive to the circle. Place a Stampin' Dimensional
on the back of the smaller heart and add that to the larger one. Add the sentiment with glue dots just under the smaller heart.

 8. Only add SNAIL to one half of the circle. Place on front of card. Using Two-Way glue,
run a small bead around the outer edge of the unsecured side.
Allow this to dry. This keeps the card closed.
I recently used this type of closure on the 3x3 card I posted several days ago.

9. Place the assembled circle on the front of the card, leaving approximately 1/2" from the top edge.

10. To complete the card, adhere a 4"x 5 1/4" piece of Very Vanilla on the inside.

AND that's it! I hope you will try this Gate Fold, if you haven't already.

Have a great Thursday and as always, stay CRAFTY!

This card is another CASED catalog card. I almost didn't post it. I'm not all that sure if it has a cohesive look or is appealing, but I'm throwing it out anyway.
Opinions are WELCOME!

My card has many more layers. It wasn't intentional.
 I just got carried away!
