Creative Combination

The card I created today is using colors that are not my "go-to" colors. I knew I wanted to use the retiring Floral District DSP and had a sketch in mind, but was a little stuck on what
complimentary color to use. The Creative Coach (120148) came to my rescue!

I wasn't all that sure how much I liked the combination they offered, but after the card was completed, I really liked it. As you can see from the picture above, they also suggest Basic Gray. This happens to be one of my favorite colors and I'm going to work up a card in the
near future using that combination. Stay tuned!

RECIPE

Paper: Primrose Petals 126841, Summer Starfruit 126839, Whisper White 100730

Circles #2 Originals 114526, Large Scallop Edgelits 127019

This is the card that I am linking to MOJO291
I really haven't used this stamp set much, although I love it.
I tend to get "crafters block" when I choose it.

I had a whole different color scheme for this card, plus image.
After playing with it for quite a while, let's just say Hallmark
would have been paying me a lot of money for my hours,
I decided on this design and colors.

T.N.T. Thursday

Welcome to T.N.T. Thursday!

It seems so good tho be able to put up my tutorial this week. Thanks to those of you who expressed concern for me last week.

This weeks tutorial is a Swing and Flip Fold card inspired by a card in the magazine, Fabulous Folds for Card Making (2010).

Let's Get Started

1. Cut your piece of card stock for the base, 4 1/4" x 8 1/4".

2. Score in landscape position at 2-3/4" for a side fold card.

3 For the Flip cut: 3-1/8" x 4-3/4"
Score in landscape position at approximately a 1/2"
for flap to glue on back of card making sure this
piece lines up with the bottom of the card

4. Cut and layer your pieces for both flaps
 Left - 2 1/2"x 3 1/2" Floral layer 2 1/4"x 3 1/2"
Right - 2 3/4" x 4" Floral layer 2 1/2" x 3 3/4"

5. Stamp and punch your images

*I used the Quint-Essential Flower stamp with the
scallop punches and the Boho Bloosoms punch.

6. Layer these pieces using Stampin' Dimensionals, except the last solid floral piece.
Adhere and center the unit to the layered piece. Attach this to the flap leaving an even border all around and leaving enough to overlap the flap slightly. (see finished card)
Add a pearl to the center of the flower.

7. Stamp and layer your sentiment and adhere to the right flap.

8. I choose to finish the inside with some DSP. I haven't decided what
type of card this is going to be, so I left the inside blank for now.

I really enjoyed making this card and think anyone who receives this will enjoy it also.

Thanks for stopping by and have a CRAFTY week!

Punched Paper Bow

I had several people ask me about the bow that was on my 5 Minute Inspiration card several days ago.

So today I thought I would put up a quick post showing how to make this fast and easy embellishment.

All the measurements are just approximate. I like to make
my strips a little longer just "in case" I goof up!

Assembly

DSP of your choice. The DSP works better then the CS

2 Ovals - I used SU! Large Oval (119855)

3 Strips of DSP -  I used Polka Dot Parade ( 126902)

1- 1/8" x 1 1/2"
1- 1/4" x 2 1/2" ,   1- 1/2" x4"

Using the smaller piece, adhere glue dots to ovals and place across like a bridge. This is what holds the ovals together. I did trim my bridge piece.

Add a glue dot to the end of the ovasl and curl over a paint brush or paper piercing tool being careful not to crease the bow end. I find the paint brush to work better for me.

Now take the 1/4" piece, add a glue dot and wrap around the bow middle.

Notch the longer 1/2" piece to form the bow tails, use a glue dot adhere
the bow to the tails and your done!

I hope you give this a try.

Have a great and CRAFTY day!

5 Minute Inspiration

This card was inspired by a card that I saw in the 2013-2014 Stampin' Up! catalog.
I loved the simplicity of it and I feel that it can be used for a male or female birthday card. It actually  took me approximately 5 minutes to cut the paper, stamp the image and put it together.

Couldn't ask for anything better!

RECIPE

Paper: Whisper White CS 100730, Cherry Cobbler CS 119685
Parker's Patterns DSP 131021

Ink: Cherry Cobbler 126966

Stamp: Bring on the Cake 121958

Sweet Additions: Chevron Folder 127749, Rhinestones Perfect Jewels 119246

I used the Large Oval Punch (119855) to make the bow

Stampin' Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive
