MOJO Monday

Today I have finally gotten back to creating after being home from my visit in NC. I decided to get my "mojo" back, I needed to participate in the MOJO Monday blog. Here is what I came up with for this challenge. I just love the So Saffron and Basic Grey combination, don't you? 

It's just so fresh,clean and calming to me.

I chose to do a 5x5 inch square card this time around. The circle ones tend to be a little difficult for me to conceptualize. I am going to try one eventually, but not today!

I had taken this photo with a cleaner back ground and less shadows, but the colors were off. 

The grey looked more blue. The image was stamped twice. 

Once in Lucky Limeade and once in Basic Gray. I also pierced inside the scallop with my

 Paper-Piercing Tool ( #126189).

PC Instructions
The files will be downloaded as archive files that you can then extract and save on your computer. When you click on the download link, an extraction program will automatically launch. Choose the location where you would like to save the files (be sure to note where you save them). Follow the prompts on the extraction program, then navigate to the location where you saved the files. Click on the file and open.

Mac Instructions
When you click on the download link, the file will be mounted as a drive. Once it is mounted, open the drive and drag and drop the files to the location of your choice on your hard drive. The files can then be opened.

Tool Talk - Stampin' Distress Tool

This is a great tool that you could possibly pass by in the Spring Catalog, the new Stampin' Distress Tool #127562 (page 14) I think I went passed it at least 3 times when I first received the catalog. This is one my favorite little tools. I really like to distress edges of CS. I personally think it adds more texture and character. The cards below are just two samples of distressing I did on several cards. If you do not have a Distressing Tool, I would certainly recommend this one by Stampin'Up!  It has 8 access points on  the blade, a soft grip and large, easy-to-hold surface area, comes in a great little storage pouch and only $4.95. All the things that add up to a great distressing tool. Why not add this to your next order from me?  You won't be disappointed.

Especially for You Pocket Slider Card

Today's tutorial  is one that can be used for any occasion just by changing the papers, embellishments and sentiment. This particular one is used as a card, but you could add a cocoa or hot cider packet, or even small Ghirardelli square with a glue dot. So cute!

Instructions

Cut a piece of  Real Red card stock 5 1/2" X 8 1/2"

Score it in landscape position at 1/2" and 4 1/2"

.

Run a piece of Sticky Strip down the edge of the  4 1/2" side. 

Fold over making sure to seal the edge.

Using More Amour DSP, cut a strip 2 1/2" X 8 1/2" for the belly band.

Wrap the band around the main piece, making sure that the ends meet 

in the middle at the back overlapping slightly. Lightly score the edges. This band should be tight, but be able to be  sliped off the main card. Run either a line of  Mono liquid adhesive or 

 Snail down the open edge and seal.

 Stamp the Especially for You sentiment on the lower right corner in black Ink.

  For the inside of the slider, cut a piece of Whisper White CS, 3 3/4" X 5 1/4". Cut a coordinating piece of DSP 3 1/2" X 3 1/2" and adhere to the top half. You can add a sentiment on the bottom half or use the packets or candy to complete it.

To make a hole on both sides of the packet for the ribbon to be inserted. I used one of the Itty Bitty Punch pack punches for this hole.

Cut a piece of coordinating ribbon approximately 16" long. I used the Pool Party ribbon from the Sycamore Ribbon and Button Pack I received free for my $50 order during our Sale-a-Bration promotion. Place the ribbon through the both holes making sure the ends are even. Slip the card between the ribbon and push card into the packet holder and tie a simple bow. The card will have the ribbon on either side so it can be pulled out using the ribbon as shown in the photo below.

 

I stamped 4 hearts with the Hearts a Flutter stamp and matching die to decorate the band.   

Pool Party and Real Red ink and CS were used on this to coordinate with the DSP.

Assemble the hearts on the front of the band and add  rhinestones to the middle of the solid hearts and to the letter "I" on the sentiment.

Let's Celebrate

 

Here is another card that was made using my FREE set , Feeling Sentimental. This one leans more towards the feminine side. It's very adaptable for by just changing the color combination and added elements. I just love the Summer Star Fruit and Island Indigo combination together, don't you?
