FALL Weekend Fun

We have had some fun, full weekends recently.  Our area of NC , Johnston County, has quite a few Fall Festivals which we were able to attend. The photos below are from the Clayton Fall Harvest and Music Festival. One of the bigger attractions on Friday was the Pig Cooking competition.  The folks who entered were lined up on the street preparing their pigs to be cooked. There were at least 15 or more who entered hoping to win. The pigs needed to be cooked by 8 am Saturday morning so they needed to be put on that evening.

Getting ready to watch some East Carolina swing dancing and some 50's dance demonstrations.

On Saturday the same festival included local vendors, Crafts, local businesses promoting there services plus,  a huge Classic Car show. The 1966 Mustang above my favorite by the way, was just one of the many, many cars at the show. The cars were just beautiful and brought back quite a few memories of my era.

Last Saturday we attended Benson Mule Days. What an event this was. I've never seen so many Mules! There was all sorts of activities going on. Races, Rodeos, Rides, Food Booths, Crafts and more. Unfortunately, we missed the big parade.  Hopefully next year we won't. We stayed for awhile then were off to the Saint Anns International Food Festival.

A Mariachi Band serenading the crowd.

Lots and lots of wonderful food and great international music and dance demonstrations.  I played it safe, as usual, and bought from the Polish and Italian booths. My hubby tried a meal from El Salvador and really enjoyed it.

This weekend, my grandsons school is have a fund raising Festival. We will be off to  attend and support his local school. More food, more games, fun. I'll  be back with a update later next week.

Now go do something CRAFTY or go to a local Festival!  But, whatever you do, ENJOY your weekend.

Fall Foyer Decorations

Here is my recent decorating project for the entrance foyer table. Fall happens to be one of my favorite seasons. I think it's the colors that always make my heart sing. Mellow yellow, muted orange, rusty brown and the crisp, cooler weather. Although I have this table decorated and the stairwell picture up, I still needs some work.  I plan on painting my inside front door a shade of gray and buy a new entrance rug. Of course, this area will always be revolving for the seasons, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.

The recent new additions, the small wreath and pumpkin were a Hobby Lobby purchase.  Oh my, I love that store! The ceramic owl I had in one of my rooms upstairs. I printed a new Fall freebie and placed it in the frame. I'll place the link for that below. The metal pumpkin and floral arrangement is from Kirkland Home.

This photo below is a piece of metal artwork I saw as I was headed out of Hobby Lobby. It was one of those, "That's just what I've been looking for" moments. I have seen other artwork I loved, but was really looking for something different and without any color and large enough to fill the space. As I mentioned in an earlier post, this area is a 2 story foyer.  This picture is 34" around and I think it lends the the space nicely.

That's about it for today.  I have really been trying to get back to card making. Unfortunately, I fail at that everyday. I never thought I would get into this funk. Hopefully, I'll get in the mood soon so at least Christmas cards get made!

Have a wonderful and CRAFTY day!

Some new Signs /A new Cricut project

I recently added these 2 signs to our new home. Although I love both of them, the Biscuits and Gravy is the one I have in my kitchen. It puts a SMILE on my face every time I read it.  My husband loves biscuits, but I LOVE biscuits and sausage gravy.  I was introduced to this culinary treat when we moved to Lynchburg, VA in 1990. I still will order these when I go out for breakfast. I especially love Cracker Barrels.  How about you? Are biscuits something you enjoy?

The project above was designed by my daughter while she was here on Monday.  She wanted a sign for her little guy Kempton to hold for a back to school picture. She chose what she wanted and I just sized and cut them out on the Cricut Explore.  I think it came out adorable.

Well, I'm off for right now.  We are in the midst of some home warranty repairs, so the house is a little crazy right now.  Have a blessed and CRAFTY day!

My New Foyer Table

Several weeks ago my sweet son-in-law made this Foyer table for me.  It is a design from Anna White that she so graciously supplies plans to follow on her website. He nailed it! Thanks Matt...

I'm in the process of decorating it, so it's still a work in progress.  I actually just used things that I had except the greenery. I have a few more ideas rolling around in my head of what I will add, but haven't found just the right ones. Of course this probably will always revolve.  I tend to do that with my accessories. How about you? As I say to my husband, tchotchkes
are always cheaper then hard case items.  I don't think he believes it, though!

Have a wonderful day. If you have a special room or entry you would like to share I would love to see it.

Stay CRAFTY my friends.

Several days ago I bought the sign Every Child at the Kirkland Home Store to hang in my mud room off our kitchen.  I knew I needed something more so it wouldn't get lost on the wall with 9 foot ceilings.

I looked around at several store and on the internet. Then I had a light bulb moment! My Cricut Explore Air and my Access account to the rescue.  I looked at several  cartridges and decided on "Simply Charmed" the one which included these 3 sweet images. My next job was to size them to fit into three inexpensive frames. Easy, Peasy with the Cricut Explore.
.
Although I was happy with the look, I wasn't liking the black frames.  Solution? I had flat white spray paint that I just used on another project and decided to use that. The photo below is the finished project. It also includes some coloring pages that 3 of my GC worked on when they were here last. I didn't add the glass this time around. I just felt the pictures looked better without it.What  do you think?

That's about it today. I'm writing and adding several more posts to be added through the week.  I hope you all will stop by again soon.  Have a wonderful, CRAFTY day!
