Masculine Happy Birthday

I'm playing along with 2 challenges today, Viva La Verve and Seize the Birthday. This will be the last card for VLVSept2014 and my first time playing along with Seize the Birthday. Like a majority of us, I always need Birthday cards, I thought this would be a great challenge to play along with.

I hope you take the time today, not only to stop on over at these blogs, but to do something CRAFTY my friends.

We are finishing up our sale on our Motor Home today. Steve and I will be a little sad to see it go to a new owner, but we haven't used it in over a year. On our recent trips, we have been staying at Bed and Breakfasts, and seem to really enjoy that "camping" experience better! Don't get me wrong, I still love to camp and enjoy the outdoors, but a 40' MH just isn't camping to me. ;}

All products on this card are Stampin' Up!.

Paper:  Confetti Celebration DSP, Basic Gray, Hello Honey, Pistachio Pudding, Bermuda Bay, Tangelo Twist,Whisper White
Ink: Tangelo Twist
Embossing Folders: Decorative Dots, Arrows
Punches: Triangle,  Star from Itty Bitty Accents Punch
Neutral Candy Dots

Bernadette

Envelope Punch Board Cookie Box

Todays project is made using the Envelope Punch Board by Stampin' Up!. I had been looking through YouTube videos for different ideas using it. I came across this  little Cookie Box by Deb Valder. I loved it and thought what perfect little gift for giving my specialty Chocolate Chippers.

I must say, the new Under the Tree DSP, is wonderful to work with.  I hope SU continues to offer it after the Holidays, perhaps in Spring patterns and colors. :')

To create the cookie holder, I used the measurements for the card size, 3x3.  To give it the depth that I needed, I cut the paper at 6x6.

My first score was at the 2 5/8" score line like the board shows. The next step was to get the added depth to fit the cookie. I slid paper down to the 3 5/8", punched and scored.
That was repeated on the remaining 3 sides.  Here is a photo of the completed scoring.

The scored "tabs" were cut on one side up to the diagonal line. There should be 4 tabs cut to form a box.
Next was to cut the opening in the middle. I decided to use one of the Starburst dies (#3 size) You can, of course, use what ever shape you care to.

Back side of DSP
This size took up most of the area in the middle of the box, but I wanted to show most of the cookie. Plus, attaching a tag would cover more of the cut area.

Since I didn't have Window Sheets, I improvised and used a sheet from one my Photopolymer stamp sets.  I cut the sheet a little shy of 3x3 and used just a dab of Fast Fuse on each corner and middle to hold it in place.

Now you are ready to start taping and putting the card-box together leaving one end open and not taped. This will be used like an envelope and to keep it closed.

I found using Fast Fuse or Sticky Strip worked better then Snail or Mono Liquid glue, which was to messy for me.

To line the box for gift giving, I added a paper doily using white copy paper and the retired, Large Delicate Doilies. It just fit into the box, but it worked.

I completed the project adding  the Natural/Old Olive Trim, a tag cut with the Note Tag Punch, which I love by the way. I can't believe that I almost passed on purchasing it! :) Finishing it with a sentiment from Chalk Talk and 2 stars punched with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch star.

I really enjoyed making this and it did go together fairly quickly. Needless to say, I will be making more.

NOW, I have to give my husband back his cookie! I promised him I was just borrowing it for the project.

Make it a wonderful Friday, enjoy your weekend, and stay CRAFTY my friends.

Hugs,
Bernadette

Masculine Card - Happy Cake Day

My card today was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches 155 and The Paper Players 214 masculine card challenge.

I have another SIL who is celebrating a birthday by the middle of October. He is a beach lover and I hadn't used the Maritime DSP, so the challenge and sketch were perfect! Clean, simple and masculine. Can't get much better then that.

Make sure to stop by tomorrow.  I have a cute little packaging project made with the Envelope Punch Board. See you then!

I hope you make your Thursday a great one and stay CRAFTY my friends.

Hugs,
Bernadette

Practice Hospitality

I just completed this card this morning. Monday seemed to just get away from me. Has that ever happened to you? You have a project and post planned, then the day slips away and it's the last thing you think of doing.

I will be linking this over on Viva La Verve and Word Art Wednesday today. I so enjoy both blogs and the challenges they present every week. I hope you take the time to stop by and see what they are up to.

I'm off to my Woman's Bible Study, some shopping, then getting ready to host our new Couples Home Group with my husband this evening.

Make this a great Tuesday and do something CRAFTY my friends!

Hugs,
Bernadette

Rustic Christmas Duo

This week I was looking over some of my older work, and saw that several years ago, I was doing more rustic style cards. I wanted to do another box project using the Stampin'Up! Gift Box Punch Board, so I pulled out the new Kraft Cardstock, Under the Tree DSP, Festival of Trees with coordinating punch , and my project was born.

I used the Kraft Cardstock not only for the box, but for the coordinating card and tags. The tags were distressed with Crumb Cake ink , except the one on the card. I already had that attached before my last minute decision {smile} that it would add more depth. As they say, the best laid plans of mice and men... or in this case, card maker!

The sides of the box are fairly plain. I used more Kraft paper that I embossed (retired EF) and a tree punched out of the Cherry Cobbler. I was originally going to use the olive twine on the card face, but I felt it was to bulky.

I will be posting this card and box over on Merry Monday #126 this week which I have not posted on before. Hopefully, it will fit the challenge of  the week making the sentiment the main focus.

I hope you have a wonderful and crafty weekend.Mine will be fairly quiet, which I'm glad of.

Stay CRAFTY  my friends!
Hugs,
Bernadette
