Home and Healing

I've been home from surgery since early Wednesday evening. Thankfully there was less reconstruction then originally thought.

Things are going well. I finally got my pain medications straightened out after a scary Tuesday.
My hubby Steve is taking real good care of me. The perfect nurse!  I've seen my physical therapist and she'll be back for 3 days a week for several weeks. So, I'm headed towards healing and health.

I pass by my Studio every day and want to create,  but with the medications right now, it's hard to stay focused. Hopefully someday soon.

The photo is of my CPM machine that was delivered today. ( the photo didn't download) I'll need to us this 4 times a day for 2 hours each time.  I'm not its going to be relaxing, but I know it's an important art of the healing process.

Take care and have a CRAFTY weekend.

Check...

A wonderful Resurrection Sunday yesterday - check

Finished the laundry - check

Dusted & Vacuumed (well, Steve vacuumed) - check

Cleaned the Bathrooms - check

Washed the kitchen floor - check

Took the dog to the Vet to be boarded - check

ALL in preparation for my Total Reconstructive Knee Surgery today here in sunny California.

I'm not exactly looking forward to it, but it needs to be done. I fell in August of last year and collapsed the partial implant I had in 2007. Unfortunately, I have been dealing with pain since. So it is time.

They tell me that I will only be in the hospital for two days compared to 8 days 7 years ago in NCI'm happy! I would rather be home.

With all that said... I will not be posting any cards for several weeks, maybe longer.  I might pop on to keep you updated, but that might be it.

I hope you will keep coming back to see if I have a  card or project for you.

Keep ON CRAFTING!

Happy Birthday Flowers

As most of us card makers know, birthday cards seem to be the cards we need the most, or at least, I do. With 7 children, 3 SIL's, 2 DIL's and 8 grand children, I seem to be always be making them!

The card above is one that I CASEd from Andrea Walford. I believe it was posted several years ago, and was saved in my CASE folder. She used a Crushed Curry combo, mine is the SAB, Sweet Sorbet and Pool Party CS. Her flowers and leaf images were using a stamp set which I did not have. I decided to cut my leaves with the Little Leaves Sizzlits die and stamped and punched the flowers using the Petite Petals stamp bundle.

SU PRODUCTSStamp: Perfectly Penned
Paper: Basic Black CS, Whisper White CS
Ink: Pool Party
Decorative Dots EF
Pearl Perfect Jewels
Retired Black Polka Dot Ribbon

I hope you make it a great Wednesday. I have several pre-op appointments today. My surgery is scheduled for Monday afternoon. I'm looking forward to having it behind me and moving ahead with the healing process.

Stay CRAFTY! Bernadette

My Final Choice

I posted a card on March 31st. of an Easter card that I was considering sending out to family. That card is going to my MIL, but this design will be sent out to my 7 children and their families.

I really fell in love with the Wisteria Wonder CS. It does show up brighter in the picture, but it is such a soft, grayish lavender color.

The Daffodil Delight CS with the matching Polka Dot Parade paper stayed. I inked up one of the watercolor stamps from Happy Watercolor set with Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzazz  ink, then added splotches of color to the tulips and leaves from  Blessed Easter.

This card is smaller then my first, which was 5"X5". This is a A2 that is side folded and scored at 3 1/2" to accommodate the scallop edge. The Wisteria Wonder CS  was cut with the Large Scallop die to add an extra element to the edge.

The used the Envelope Punch board to some of the corners, the Perfect Polka Dot EF, and added some Rhinestone Basic Jewels to complete the card.

Well, I'm off do errands and put these cards in the mail. I hope you have a blessed and CRAFTY day!

Some Birthday weekend photos

Here are just a few photos from our trip to Solvang, CA, meaning sunny field in Danish, this past weekend. It is a beautiful little Danish Village just above Santa Barbara, CA.
The town is primarily a Tourist spot. Not tacky like some. Each building has to adhere to strict codes as far as design and even color choice.

In 2011 it celebrated it's 100th. Anniversary. They hold a Danish Days festival in September, Taste of Solvang in March, and Julefest during December, which I would love to attend.

Just a small sampling of the beautiful shops,
bakeries and restaurants in the village.

A Belgium horse drawn Trolley that we took around Solvang Village with a wonderful tour guide.

This is a bronze sculpture of the "Little Mermaid".  It is only 1/2 the size of the original which we saw when we were in Copenhagen 7 years ago.

This bronze graces the courtyard of the
Old Mission Santa Ines.

This is a view from the winery we visited
in Santa Ynez Valley.

I hope you have a good evening and enjoyed these photos. If you are ever out to California, I would suggest you put this quaint little place on your To Do list of places to visit.

A Quick Monday Post

Good Morning! I am here in Solvang, CA with my hubby. We are enjoying this quaint Danish inspired village with it's little shops, bakeries, and restaurants. On Wednesday I will post some photos from our stay here.

As I mentioned on Friday, I would be drawing the name of the winner of the Blog Candy.

And the winner is: Elisha

Congratulations Elisha! Could you please send along your mailing address to: bernadettebliss@gmail.com and I'll have your prize sent to you by Wednesday.

Well, I'm off to bed. We have a busy day of sight seeing ahead of use tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Monday and try to do something CRAFTY!

Birthday Greetings

The sentiment is from the Wetlands stamp set (126697)

Of course ending the week with a Birthday Greeting seems appropriate. The DSP, twine and cork flowers are from the recent Sale-a-Bration sale. I haven't used much of this paper, but do like it, but thought it would work well, with not only the DS145 sketch, but as a Birthday card.

I paired the DSP (Sweet Sorbet) with Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party and Whisper White. The strip of Crisp Cantaloupe was embossed with the Fancy Fan folder (127751). I used the 2 1/2" Circle Punch for the larger circle (120906). I used the Essentials paper piercing set (Circle- 126187) to pierce around the outer perimeter. The smaller circle is a non-SU product.

The banner was  punched with another FREE product from SAB. I added some Candy Dots (Subtles 130933) to the center of the flowers and added one to the banner. To tie things together I used the Framelits Envelope Liners (132172) to produce a matching envelope.

That's about it for today. Remember, if you would like to be in the drawing for the Blog Candy, all comments must be posted by 12 AM Pacific time on Saturday, April 5th. I will announce the winner on Monday, April 7th.

Have a wonderful weekend and stay CRAFTY!

Psst...

Here is the second card for my Birthday week. I used the MOJO339 sketch for the week and a slightly unusual color combo.

I was anxious to put this stamp to paper. It is one of the images from the Happy Watercolor set and was just begging to be colored.

Using my Prismacolor pencils with OMS, I colored in the orchids and stems with colored pencils that matched fairly closely to SU colors.

I haven't used my pencils for over a year, and found that I was a little rusty and forgotten how relaxing coloring is. I'm seeing some other cards in the future using this technique.
