Just Popping In!

Hello all! Just a quick post with some pictures of what I've been up to.

Yes, I know, WHAT NO CARDS your thinking and perhaps saying. No, NO CARDS. Not even a crafty homemade item. I'm really quite disturbed with myself for not "forcing myself" into my craft area. I even saved Mojo Mondays sketch thinking that would move me along. NADA!!!

So, on with some none crafty news. I hope I can keep you interested so you will continue to FOLLOW ME. ;.)

Just spent a wonderful week here at our Timeshare in Long Boat Key, FL. Got to spend some great time with my daughter, granddaughters, and friends. We also enjoyed some new restaurants that we haven't frequented on our previous visits here. Great food, by the way. Especially the fish dishes.

My granddaughter, Morg, is expecting her first little one in December. Her Mom and some friends hosted a Baby Shower for her while I was there. It was such a sweet time. The decorations and food were fantastic!

My GD Mady on the left, myself and Morg, the Mommy to Be.

My daughter Dani and Morg arranging flowers in fresh Pineapple Vases

My front entrance. The weather has been in the upper 80's. I'm thinking that my Summer Wreath needs to be put back up!

That's it for today. Have a blessed and CRAFTY DAY!

Farmhouse Table

Just a quick post tonight. On Wednesday this week I was able to pick up our new Farmhouse table built by a local Raleigh, NC man. He did such a great job and I'm loving it.  Although, it still will only sit 8 or 10 of us. Our dinning area is small, so we were limited on length.
.

Southern Yellow Pine top - 78" x 37"

Painted flat black pine legs, distressed

I'm still in the process of decorating my dinning room. I've bought some pictures and hope to get them up this weekend.  The chairs around the table are from my old set, but I'm looking to find at  two dinning armchairs and adding some metal or wood chairs.  I'm on the HUNT!

Have a wonderful weekend!

FALL Weekend Fun

We have had some fun, full weekends recently.  Our area of NC , Johnston County, has quite a few Fall Festivals which we were able to attend. The photos below are from the Clayton Fall Harvest and Music Festival. One of the bigger attractions on Friday was the Pig Cooking competition.  The folks who entered were lined up on the street preparing their pigs to be cooked. There were at least 15 or more who entered hoping to win. The pigs needed to be cooked by 8 am Saturday morning so they needed to be put on that evening.

Getting ready to watch some East Carolina swing dancing and some 50's dance demonstrations.

On Saturday the same festival included local vendors, Crafts, local businesses promoting there services plus,  a huge Classic Car show. The 1966 Mustang above my favorite by the way, was just one of the many, many cars at the show. The cars were just beautiful and brought back quite a few memories of my era.

Last Saturday we attended Benson Mule Days. What an event this was. I've never seen so many Mules! There was all sorts of activities going on. Races, Rodeos, Rides, Food Booths, Crafts and more. Unfortunately, we missed the big parade.  Hopefully next year we won't. We stayed for awhile then were off to the Saint Anns International Food Festival.

Saint Anns International Food Festival

A Mariachi Band serenading the crowd.

Lots and lots of wonderful food and great international music and dance demonstrations.  I played it safe, as usual, and bought from the Polish and Italian booths. My hubby tried a meal from El Salvador and really enjoyed it.

This weekend, my grandsons school is have a fund raising Festival. We will be off to  attend and support his local school. More food, more games, fun. I'll  be back with a update later next week.

Now go do something CRAFTY or go to a local Festival!  But, whatever you do, ENJOY your weekend.

Fall Foyer Decorations

Here is my recent decorating project for the entrance foyer table. Fall happens to be one of my favorite seasons. I think it's the colors that always make my heart sing. Mellow yellow, muted orange, rusty brown and the crisp, cooler weather. Although I have this table decorated and the stairwell picture up, I still needs some work.  I plan on painting my inside front door a shade of gray and buy a new entrance rug. Of course, this area will always be revolving for the seasons, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.

The recent new additions, the small wreath and pumpkin were a Hobby Lobby purchase.  Oh my, I love that store! The ceramic owl I had in one of my rooms upstairs. I printed a new Fall freebie and placed it in the frame. I'll place the link for that below. The metal pumpkin and floral arrangement is from Kirkland Home.

This photo below is a piece of metal artwork I saw as I was headed out of Hobby Lobby. It was one of those, "That's just what I've been looking for" moments. I have seen other artwork I loved, but was really looking for something different and without any color and large enough to fill the space. As I mentioned in an earlier post, this area is a 2 story foyer.  This picture is 34" around and I think it lends the the space nicely.

That's about it for today.  I have really been trying to get back to card making. Unfortunately, I fail at that everyday. I never thought I would get into this funk. Hopefully, I'll get in the mood soon so at least Christmas cards get made!

Have a wonderful and CRAFTY day!

Some new Signs /A new Cricut project

I recently added these 2 signs to our new home. Although I love both of them, the Biscuits and Gravy is the one I have in my kitchen. It puts a SMILE on my face every time I read it.  My husband loves biscuits, but I LOVE biscuits and sausage gravy.  I was introduced to this culinary treat when we moved to Lynchburg, VA in 1990. I still will order these when I go out for breakfast. I especially love Cracker Barrels.  How about you? Are biscuits something you enjoy?

The project above was designed by my daughter while she was here on Monday.  She wanted a sign for her little guy Kempton to hold for a back to school picture. She chose what she wanted and I just sized and cut them out on the Cricut Explore.  I think it came out adorable.

Well, I'm off for right now.  We are in the midst of some home warranty repairs, so the house is a little crazy right now.  Have a blessed and CRAFTY day!

My New Foyer Table

Several weeks ago my sweet son-in-law made this Foyer table for me.  It is a design from Anna White that she so graciously supplies plans to follow on her website. He nailed it! Thanks Matt...

I'm in the process of decorating it, so it's still a work in progress.  I actually just used things that I had except the greenery. I have a few more ideas rolling around in my head of what I will add, but haven't found just the right ones. Of course this probably will always revolve.  I tend to do that with my accessories. How about you? As I say to my husband, tchotchkes
are always cheaper then hard case items.  I don't think he believes it, though!

Have a wonderful day. If you have a special room or entry you would like to share I would love to see it.

Stay CRAFTY my friends.

Tuesday, September 6, 2016

Several days ago I bought the sign Every Child at the Kirkland Home Store to hang in my mud room off our kitchen.  I knew I needed something more so it wouldn't get lost on the wall with 9 foot ceilings.

I looked around at several store and on the internet. Then I had a light bulb moment! My Cricut Explore Air and my Access account to the rescue.  I looked at several  cartridges and decided on "Simply Charmed" the one which included these 3 sweet images. My next job was to size them to fit into three inexpensive frames. Easy, Peasy with the Cricut Explore.
.
Although I was happy with the look, I wasn't liking the black frames.  Solution? I had flat white spray paint that I just used on another project and decided to use that. The photo below is the finished project. It also includes some coloring pages that 3 of my GC worked on when they were here last. I didn't add the glass this time around. I just felt the pictures looked better without it.What  do you think?

That's about it today. I'm writing and adding several more posts to be added through the week.  I hope you all will stop by again soon.  Have a wonderful, CRAFTY day!

My New Craft Space

Good evening all. I said I would post some updated photos of my crafting space. Unlike having a whole room to call my own, I now have several different areas.  We bought a townhome that has the Master downstairs plus a Guest Bedroom.  Since my husband is working from home, I needed to relinquish the Guest Bedroom for his office. I suppose since crafting is just a hobby and doesn't pay bills, it made sense!

We do have a second floor which incorporates a 3rd.bedroom , a full bath, Bonus Room and a large walk in attic. The picture above is my work desk and chair that I bought at a yard sale for $50. This is a little alcove on the top floor over looking the two story foyer. It's very bright and light and I love the area to work in.

This Ikea piece was in my craft room in San Marcos. I'm only utilizing the top half to store inks, stamp sets, paper and some odds and ends. Since this room (17x17) will be furnished and decorated for my grandchildren, the  remainder of my supplies needed to be tucked away in the attic space.

This walk in attic is off the Bonus Room. It isn't insulated now, but will be sometime in the future. I stored my remaining items on three 3 tier metal shelves that I bought from Target.  These shelves are amazingly large and sturdy and were less the $40 each.  My husband did attached hem to the 2x4's for safty. It's not the perfect solution, but I am determined to make it work.

Room Essentials $34.99
Well I'll b signing off for the evening. I hope you had a wonderful day and did something CRAFTY!

Saturday, August 20, 2016

Well here it is August 20th. and now its been another 2 months since I posted. Honestly, I lost my my mojo, big time. I have had my CRAFTY space organized for about a little over two weeks, but just actually crafted something last Wednesday and Thursday! It was my GD Esther's 9th. Birthday and I needed a card!

Although I have lots of stamps, I did not have a Mermaid stamp. No problem. I own a Cricut Explore Air.  I cut the 4 darling little mermaids from Life is a Beach cartridge. Three were for bookmarks and one for decorating the outside of the envelope. The cartridge even included a Mermaid card to coordinate with the bookmarks. I just backed the cut out portion with some retired SU paper.(I believe it was from Cherry on Top paper stack)

These were nothing fancy or difficult but it put a big SMILE on Esther's faceMission accomplished.  Now hopefully this will jump start my MOJO.

**The papers are from Stampin'Up! and Bazzil. The inside sentiment is SU's Bring on the Cake stamped with Bermuda Bay ink.

That's about it for tonight. Monday I plan to show pictures of my crafting space here in my new home. Until then, I hope you have wonderful weekend and can do something CRAFTY!

Has it been that long!

Good afternoon from Clayton, NC. I decided to do a little catch up today and realized it was almost 2 months to the day I last posted! There has been so much going on, and I had thought about it several times, but always got distracted or was running around. Hopefully some of you are still hanging in there with me 😊

We are now here living in Clayton, NC in a new townhome.  My hubby and I lived with my daughter for almost 6 weeks. It was a wonderful time and I'm missing her and her sweet spirit. Since Steve is working from home and I like to be settled, we moved pretty quickly to find a home to call our own. Fortunately, we did. It is about 40 minutes from my girls here in NC, but I love the country setting . It's in a Planned Urban Development,  Flowers Plantation. We are surrounded by lots of trees, different price point developements with single family homes, townhome communities, golf courses, walking trails, and farmland.

Several other things were on our To Do list. Buying a car, washer and dryer, and refrigerator. I'm pleased to report, we bought a 2016 Honda CR-V, which we love, and Kenmore appliances.

Our new home

My daughter helping me unpack the kitchen. What a blessing.

On June 4th through 11th our family had a reunion at the Outerbanks in NC. What a great time we had. There were 16 adults and 9 children. The house was full of fun and love.

With all of that said, I don't have one recent project to share. Actually, all my craft room supplies are still in 14 boxes in my Bonus Room! I do have some very neglected Paper Pumpkin projects set aside, though. I will be working on those for now until I have my crafty space organized.

That's about it from me. Have a wonderful and CRAFTY weekend.

April 17th Update

Staying here at our little home at Road  Runner Lake Resort, Scottsdale, AZ. We arrived here yesterday afternoon and will head out to NC on Tuesday.

The last week in CA was a little hectic, but we got through it.  Our dog was picked up yesterday morning and is on her way by a pet transport company. Our belongings will be headed out in a few days.

This is just the beginning of the pack on Thursday morning. Five hours later it was done. Friday the loaders came and wrapped, took apart, and loaded the truck for transport. I'm so thankful we were able to have a full pack and load, except the Craft Room.

After we arrive on Tuesday, we will be living with our daughter and her husband. I'll be working with a realtor on Thursday or Friday to start our home search. Hopefully, it will be a speedy process.

Have a great weekend  and go do some crafting for me!

This is We're I'm at...

Getting there slowly, but surely.  I still have about 2 hours more of packing up this room, then some sorting in the other 5 rooms!
I need to be completely done by Wednesday night. But there's nothing like procrastination to motivate you!
Hope you enjoy your weekend.

Update

Good morning friends.  I hope you all had a great Easter weekend. Ours was wonderful spending time with friends sharing food , fellowship, attending and serving at our church.
UPDATE
Our moving company ad been scheduled, our dog transportation arranged, airline tickets bought and a myriad of small , but important,  last minute things are being set in motion. We head out of CA to the East Coast in 2 weeks.

BLOG INFO
I was planning on doing some more card projects since my last post, but I started packing up my craft room and made quite a mess! I sorted and purged, and then repeated that process.   I'm almost done and just need to box, tape and label it up. After taking days doing this , I realized I might need craft buying intervention.  I'm sure some of you can relate.

Todays post is to give you some idea of what you might except on my blog in the coming months. My thoughts are to keep you updated on our move back East , some photos, and perhaps an occasional card project or some other crafty project.  Since we are moving into my daughter and husband's home for a season, and we do not have a home in NC , I will have very little of my craft supplies at her home, if none at all. (insert SAD face)

Hopefully , we will find our new home quickly. My hubby will be working out of the home and we will be sharing that office space, I assume I'll unpack and set up my crafty supplies pretty quickly.  Come to think of it, probably before settling my kitchen! There are plenty of restaurants, right? 

In closing, thank you to those of you who follow me regularly and to those of you who stop by from other sites.  I would love you to continue to do that, although there will be fewer posts and the content might be less craft centered for a period of time. Thanks again for your understanding as I walk into a new season.

Have a wonderful day and, as always, go do something CRAFTY!

Gracious Words

Today I decided to play along with the stampinkpaper #39 challenge . I don't know why I haven't played along before, but this is my first time entering a card. I really loved the simplicity of the sketch and I wanted to ink up a new Verve stamp that I received Monday. The sketch was perfect!

I used papers by SU, Pool Party and So Saffron, Schoolhouse DSP, the Honeycomb  EF, Pearls from unknown source, Black Memento ink, and the image from Verve Stamps Plain Jane Proverbs 16:24.

I hope you have great evening and get to do something CRAFTY!

Masculine Birthday Card /MOJO 439

Today I had a chance and mojo to actually make  card. My thoughts seem to be preoccupied with our upcoming move.

This is the MOJO sketch for this week and I have been wanting to use the Going Places DSP. Everything just clicked when I saw the sketch.

I'm starting to work on my family and friends April birthday cards with the hopes of getting them created before the end of the first week in April. Hopefully I'll be able to meet that goal.

Have great Monday evening and go do something CRAFTY!

No Laptop and Some News

Well my laptop  has bit the dust. It's been acting "wonky" for a couple of weeks, but today it died.😣

I do have my phone and Tablet and hoping they will suffice to post here on my blog, although I've been a little inactive and will be. In about 2 weeks I'll be inactive for about a month or more.  We've sold our home here in California  and are moving back East. North Carolina to be exact, closer to a majority of our family.

We will be doing a full pack minus my Craft Room/Studio. I'll be slowly packing that up over the first 2 weeks in April. I might turn out a few projects, but that is yet to be seen.  I do have Paper Pumpkin Kits I will attempt to creat with and post.

We  will be arriving in NC sometime after the 18th of April. The hold up will be that we need to find and buy a house and vehicle after we arrive. Crazy, right? Our belongings will be in storage until a house is ours.  Thankfully,  our daughter Dani an her husband have opened their home until we get settled.

Well that's it for today. I  hope you have a wonderful weekend. Stay CRAFTY my friends!

Isn't this the cutest thing? Maybe buying one of these and just traveling would be GREAT! What do you think?

God is Our Refuge / ctd#383 /mojo438

Good morning my crafting friends. My post today is an exciting one.  On February 26th. I was chosen Featured Stamper over at Color Throwdown. Part of the fun is to create a card using the colors for the current challenge. We were asked to incorporate Orange, Green, Yellow, and White. The card below is the one I created using those colors.  I also was able to post this card over at MOJO Monday using their sketch.

I decided on using the Labels Collection framelits in place of the rectangle.  My main reason being, I haven't used this set for such a long time. Another product that has been sadly neglected in my stash are the paper dollies. I'm embarrassed to say this is only the second time I have used one in my creating. Sad, but true.  Do you have things that you have bought with all good intentions of using them, then they just sit on your shelf? I think I know the answer. :0)

I encourage you stop over to check out the great cards posted by the Color Throwdown Design Team and play along with this weeks  challenge. The colors are a great way to jump start your creativity.

Have a wonderful Wednesday and go do something  CRAFTY!

Grateful for You/Mojo437/ctd382

I worked on this card yesterday for several hours. Yes I know, buying a Hallmark card would have been easier and less frustrating, but you know how us card makers are. Why buy it when you can make it!

Unfortunately after all that time, I'm not all that impressed with my choice of  patterned papers. Although, the colors are in line with the Color Throwdown challenge and the layout with the MOJO Monday sketch.

I used 3 stamp sets on this card, framelits, an EF, and 3 punches.  I usually don't do that, but I really needed things to come together and I wasn't achieving it with fewer choices. Oh well, it gives some of my poor neglected "stash" some love.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  Go do something CRAFTY!
