Hello There

I decided to give this sketch from The Paper Players a go this week.

Bits and pieces of this card were sitting on my desk for at least 2 days.
I was trying to determine if I was going to make it "clean" or stepped up.
As you can see, stepped up won!

The color combination of Tangerine Tango 111349, Tempting Turquoise 102067, and Old Olive 100702, was suggested by the SU Color Coach .

Experiment in Color

Today's card is an experiment in color as the title says. I tend to get into "safe" color ruts.
 How about you?
I usually pick out my main color or patterned paper in my process of creating, then choose the coordinating colors.
When I'm in a color rut, I pull out my SU Color Coach #130118 and choose the Creative Combination to complete my project. I must confess, it usually tends to be a challenge, but I move forward to stretch myself. This card is one that has stretched me.

My inspiration for the layout was the unscripted sketch #226.

The color combination the Color Coach suggested

Pumpkin Pie 105117
Pacific Point 111350
Real Red 102482

Quatrefancy DSP 130141 was the paper I used as my starting point.

Ink:  Real Red 126949
Stamp Set:  Lot's of Thanks 129690
Pacific Point 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon 126876
Perfect Polka Dots 117335
Whisper White Baker's Twine 124262
*SU buttons retired

I'm still not sure if this color combo is pleasing to me, but like I said, I need to get out of my color rut and the Color Coach helps me to do that.

If you have the same difficulty with color as I do, or great color combinations, why not order your SU Color Coach (pg.139 @ $14.95) and start experimenting. You can go directly to my DBWS to order that or any other of the products listed here on this post. I would love to have you as a customer and be your Creative Coach!

Just Under the Wire!

I had a chance to play today and decided to try the MOJO314 Monday challenge for the week.  I'm just making this under the wire. I believe the last time I looked at the close of this challenge I had just a little over an hour left!

I decided on the color combo of Daffodil Delight, Olive and Night of Navy. This was a color combination suggested on the Color Coach Card.

I started with a regular 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card base and layered from there and followed the sketch fairly close.

I did add Candy Dots along the bottom and the flag Happy Birthday sentiment
I think I will be able to use this as a masculine card since
I didn't tie the ribbon into a bow and the colors seem masculine to me.

  • I used the Square Lattice and Modern Mosaic embossing folders for texture.
  • Quatrefancy Specialty DSP
  • Mosaic Madness Stamp set
  • Mosaic Punch
  • Itty Bitty Banners stamp with matching Bitty Banners dies
Have a great evening!

More Boxes and Containers, Oh My!

I'm sure most of the people who follow my blog have noticed a lack of card projects.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the truck from North Carolina arrived a week and a half ago.
Most of our belongings are in our spare bedroom getting unpacked and sorted, AGAIN!

I have managed to open, sort and put away about half of the boxes that arrived. These days I seem to be slow and not able to multitask quite as well as I used to.  I can either unpack and organize or create.  Unfortunately creating has taken the back seat for now.  :>{

This is what remained in the room before I left for my 6 day trip to Scottsdale, Arizona. My husband returned on Sunday with a car load of "stuff" from here.  I have not seen were he has placed it, so this room could be a lot fuller then this picture shows. UGH! Of course, it could be out in the shed, which also has things to be unpacked and organized. Okay,I'm taking a deep breathe rightnow!

This was the condition my studio was in when I left. Not bad, but not conducive to getting my mojo going. I plan on getting this done by the weekend so I can get back to my much needed therapy,
CREATING with paper and ink...

These are the only two items that were damaged in
4 moves and then the move across country. Not bad.

I just arrived home to San Marcos last evening and I'm hoping
to have a card project up by the weekend.

Thank you so much for your support and understanding these past 9 months.
Between loading our motor home, moving to California, emptying our motor home, shopping for furniture and accessories, setting up our home and my Studio, dealing with
more personal belongings from NC and now being away for almost a week.

You girls are the BEST! I hope to see you in a few days.

Make it a great day and stay CRAFTY!

Arizona Class Fun

Sunday I had the privilege of attending a card class taught
by Sandy Farley here in Arizona.

I had come into town on Friday afternoon to spend 6 days in beautiful Scottsdale at our little "cottage". I came to meet up with old friends, church family and take part in celebrating with friends at a sweet older ladies (89 years young) Birthday Party last night.

Here is a picture of Sandy who joined my team in February
of this year. She has been doing classes for several months and did a
 wonderful job on Sunday.

That's Sandy with the great smile!

She demonstrated two of Linda Heller's(stampingschool) projects.
This is just one of them. Sandy took the time to notch and score
everything for us! Each of us chose our own stamp
and embellishments for the front of the project.

Inside of holder. I inserted money, but a Gift Card works nicely also.

 Sheri enjoying her time stamping.

We all enjoyed our time together playing with paper and stamps!
Well, that's about it for now.
I hope you all have a great day and stay CRAFTY!

plus fun and challenging, well challenges.
